13 July 2011
Yorkshire will represent the Northern Counties in the County Championship Final at Luffenham Heath Golf Club on 23 - 25 August 2011 after winning a very close contest at the Wilmslow Golf Club in Cheshire.
After the first round of this six boy team championship (5 scores to count) Lancashire on 353 led by one stroke from Durham with Cheshire the host county a further 9 strokes behind.
Yorkshire rallied in the afternoon with all six boys scoring par or better and finished with a score of 717 some five strokes in front of Lancashire 722 and a further 4 strokes 726 in front of Durham.
The best 36 hole score of the day and winner of the John Todd Trophy was Louis Fraser from Durham with two great rounds of 67 - 70 - 137. Oliver Carr of Cheshire and Tom Rowland of Northumberland both had rounds of 67.
The immaculate Wilmslow course was a splendid venue for the Championship and where hospitality was first class.
