E.G.U. NORTHERN COUNTIES SENIORS'
AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP

To be played over 36 holes on
Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st July 2010
(one round each day)
at

THE YORK GOLF CLUB
 

     QUALIFICATIONS

  1. The Championship is open to any male playing member of a Club affiliated to the County Unions of Cheshire, Cumbria, Durham, Isle of Man, Lancashire, Northumberland and Yorkshire, and he must not have taken part in a golf championship of any other County, or represented another County Union, during the previous 12 months.
  2. Must have attained the age of 55 years on or before 20th July 2010.
  3. Must have a C.O.N.G.U playing handicap not exceeding 12 at the time of entry.

     CONDITIONS OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP

  1. 150 Competitors shall be eligible to compete.   In the event of entries being over-subscribed, a ballot will be held of the higher handicapped players, and where necessary, by age groups in the proportions provided by the Rules.
  2. The winner will be the competitor who returns the lowest gross medal aggregate score over 36 holes.  In the event of a tie the Championship will be shared.   Prizes will be awarded to the winner and the runner-up.
  3. Subsidiary competitions (gross medal scores over 36 holes) will also be played within the Championship in the age groups of 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and over.
  4. A prize will also be awarded for the best net score returned on each day of the Championship.
  5. No competitor shall receive more than one prize, and ties will be decided as provided by the Rules.
  6. The Championship will be played in accordance with the Rules of golf and the Rules of amateur Status as approved by R & A Rules Limited, and the rules of the Championship and the Local Rules approved by the Championship Committee.
  7. Competitors are required to play with golf balls which are on the current R & A List of Conforming Golf Balls.
  8. Conforming Driver Heads:   Any driver the player carries must have a clubhead, identified by model and loft, that is named on the current List of Conforming Driver Heads issued by the R&A.   Penalty for breach of Condition:  Disqualification
  9. Players shall walk at all times during a stipulated round unless permitted to ride by the Championship Committee.
  10. Distance-Measuring Devices:   In all Northern Counties' Tournaments a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.   If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.                               Note: The Motorcaddy S3 will be allowed in competition as long as the temperature gauge is either disconnected or taped over.

        ENTRIES

             All entries must be made on the official Entry Form and sent to the Hon. Secretary by 25th June 2010.
            
The entry shall be accompanied by a handicap certificate signed by an official of the player's home club  and a cheque for £30 made payable to 'E.G.U. Northern Counties'.
The acceptance or refusal of entries shall be referred to the Championship Committee whose decision is final.
