INFORMATION FOR COMPETITORS

 

 

Directions:   The Golf Course is situated at Lords Moor Lane, Strensall, York YO32 5XF   (Off the A64)

If for any reason you have to withdraw from the Championship, please let me know as soon as possible so that substitutes can be arranged.

                                                                                                                                     

Practice   Tee times for practice rounds can be booked with the Secretary, Mike Wells Telephone 01904 491840

The Practice Ground is close to the clubhouse. Range balls are available.

 

Dress:  The Club will relax the normal dress code during the practice day and on the days of the Championship when Smart Casual Dress will be acceptable. It would be appreciated if prizewinners would wear a jacket collar and tie for the Prize Presentation ceremony.

                                   

Catering: A wide variety of snacks will be available throughout each day. If either breakfasts or evening meals are required they should be pre-booked with the Caterer on Telephone 01904 491840. In the case of early breakfasts, 24 hours notice would be appreciated

 

Mobile Phones:  May not be used on the Course or in the Clubhouse other than in emergencies.

 

Championship Starting Times:  To be strictly adhered to. Please collect your Score Cards on both days from the Recorders Office which is situated at the top of the main stairs on the left.  Please collect cards at least 10 minutes prior to your tee time and report to the Starter at least five minutes before your tee time.

 

Conforming Equipment:

All competitors are required to play with golf balls and driving clubheads which are on R&A Rules Limited List of Conforming Golf Balls and List of Conforming Driver Heads current at the date of the event.

 

Distance Measuring Equipment

A player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.   If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used

 

Prizes and Scoring:     The Championship is played under Stroke Play rules. There are, in addition to the main Championship, separate age group categories, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69 and 70 years and over all of which will be decided on the best gross scores over 36 holes. A net prize will also be awarded for each individual round.

 

Prize Presentation:       This will take place in the Main Bar or on the Terrace shortly following the conclusion of play when Mr J.C.Licence, Chairman of The Northern Counties will present the Salver to the Winner and other prizes.

 

In 2011 the Championship will be held at The Silloth on Solway Golf Club on 19th and 20th July.
